It was 1982 when our founders Drs. Linda Acredolo and Susan Goodwyn observed that infants and toddlers were instinctively using simple gestures to signify words and concepts they were not yet able to verbalise.

Some would tap their head for ‘hat’, blow out for ‘hot’, raise their arms for ‘up’, or raise and smell their hand for 'flower’.  This inspired Drs. Acredolo and Goodwyn to research further into what would occur, if the process was encouraged along?

Drs. Acredolo and Goodwyn, parenting experts and founders of the Baby Signs ® program, have continued to research the impact of baby sign language on hearing babies. 

This has allowed them to develop and adapt the Baby Signs ® program and products to best suit the needs of babies, families and caretakers, making it fun, simple and easy to learn.
