Tantrums became a rare event"I was introduced to the baby signs program when my eldest son was nearing one year old. He wouldn’t sit still to watch anything else on tv but was captivated by the baby signs DVD’s and with a little encouragement from us soon became a very capable signer. Being able to communicate his needs and wants to us meant that he didn’t get frustrated and so tantrums became a rare event.
Increased eagerness to learn to talk His ability to communicate in baby sign language also increased his eagerness to learn to talk as he could see the benefits in making himself understood. Now I have another little boy and we are so happy to be able to help him to communicate with us through sign, my older son, who is now four, has slipped happily back into his sign language to communicate with his little brother, and still enjoys watching the baby sign DVD’s.

It is now even more fun to go to the park
Two weeks after we started signing to our baby Lila, she began 'telling'us about every dog she saw, and now, after a month, she uses several signs to tell us about other things she likes (fish, flowers, light, birds, planes, helicopters, trees, books, balls, and milk). We find it amazing that at 10 and a half months she is already able to communicate with us, and we love seeing her excited every time she sees - and can tell us about - a fish or a tree she likes. It is now even more fun than before to go to the park together as we know she will be noticing so many things, and will let us know about them.

Teaching Lila new signs is not hard work at all - we are so used to singing now that it just comes naturally, and it is actually great fun, including making collages using pictures of objects we focus on, buying books that fit what we sign about, making up songs and rhymes, and documenting all her signs in a diary. We have got my sister interested in the program too, and my niece Olivia has just made her first sign for fish. So now the girls have already something to talk about :)

Grand parenting made easyAs a grandparent who often minds our beautiful grandkids, I am amazed at what a difference using the Baby Signs has made in understanding what they want and need. I can stop bragging to my friends and neighbours about how cute they are. I wish we had this when I was a mother.

A great start to first time parentingI have been using the DVD’s for a couple of months with my now 8 month old girl. Besides giving me 20 minutes of quiet time, I know she is learning as she watches the engaging characters and she just loves Bee-Bo. Makes childcare easier As a childcare worker, I see the frustration and tears that come from babies not being able to get across their needs. Since having a signing baby in our class, I have seen first hand the difference it makes to their temperament, confidence and ability to talk with us. It is easier to respond to what they want and there are far less tantrums!

No more mess!
In a childcare centre there are always lots of messes. However since our centre has started using the Baby Signs® program our usual messes aroud mealtime are a thing of the past. Rather than our babies throwing food on the floor to let us know they had finished they now use the "all gone" sign. Fantastic! Who would have thought that a simple gesture could help towards happier babies and happier staff!

Don't tell me what to to look at... I'll tell you!
Our daughter had been signing for a month and one day when we were out I saw some children riding past on their bikes. Thinking that my daughter, who was in her pram at the time, would be excited by seeing lots of bikes going by so I signed "bike" while saying "Oh look Georgina, lots of bikes!" When there was no response I bent down and as I did she looked up and signed "bird." It was then that I noticed the bird that was obviously fascinating her on the footpath below as it walked around picking up crumbs of food. After that day, I learnt to watch for things that Georgina was interested in rather than me pointing them out to her!

Started Potty Training the day we got it
I got the PottyTraining Kit on Monday, and we started right away. Diego loves the DVD and he pays a lot of attention to it and has watched it five times in a row! He is already doing all the signs at the same time as the kids in the DVD. He is also signing them to me when I say the word. So far he is not sitting in his potty but I guess it is a matter of time and being patient. Thanks a lot for everything.
