How young can you start using signing?
I have a 5 week old - can w start using some basic signs when we are talking to him now? I wouldn't expect him to use them s his hand coordination is still developing but at least he can see what we are doing. Is there an ideal or preferred age to start?...

Does this help with communication for autistic kids?
Hi Tania,
A lot of parents start with our
program before using Auslan. The
reasons for this is because babies
ability to make the complex signs
for AUSLAN is difficult. We are in
the process of creating a AUSLAN DVD
(with the deaf community) for
parents who are wanting to start

Signing Star
Hi there!
Yes we are. We have contacts with
the deaf community who are keen to
create a DVD with Auslan signs.
Very exciting for us and it will
allow families to have the option of
including the language of the deaf
community into our program. In fact
my journey with Baby Signs sta...

you learn too & are fun to talk your child through. We started
around 11months & at 13months he could do Est 16 signs.
People are shocked how much he can communicate. I mainly
did them while saying the word & doing the action....

Does this help with communication for autistic kids?
Hi Tania
Signing with Autistic kids can
definitely help with communication
and expanding vocabulary. I would
recommend using a program or
resourses that use Auslan
(Australian Sign Language) that way
your daughter will be able to make
use of the signs she learns in
future at daycare...
